Sainsbury's launches its own record label

In our latest Sainsburys news article, we take a look at their recent big announcement that they plan to launch their own record label to capitalise on the recent vinyl revival.

The supermarket plans to launch two compilation albums on its new Own Label imprint, these will be released via Universal and Warner Music on Friday. Sainsbury's started to stock vinyls back in March 2016 for the first time since the 80s. Sainsburys have said they account for one in every 20 vinyl records sold in the UK.

Sainsburys Said: “Our customers’ love of vinyl shows no sign of abating, so alongside the classics albums, we want to offer our shoppers something they won’t find anywhere else. Our exclusive Own Label records have been carefully tailored towards the inquisitive, cultured tastes of our customers so we’re confident that they’ll love the sound of our new releases and our ever increasing vinyl range.”
