Our Corporate Social Responsibility

We recognise that it feels good to our team when we give something back; as such at the beginning of 2011 we re-defined our corporate responsibility in to the following sections and through a new policy statement for each area.

Every year we challenge ourselves to set specific goals for improving our corporate responsibility and like to focus on some key areas and develop new initiatives or opportunities for people within the business. In May 2011 we moved the location of our office away from Manchester City Centre to Birchwood, Warrington ensuring that the design and carbon footprint of our new office was as environmentally friendly as possible.  We also decided to focus on our local Community in Warrington and Kate McCarthy became a Patron of a local Children's Charity called JUMP.  We have played a very active role in supporting the team at JUMP to develop the infrastructure of the charity to help them offer their services to more children and families in the North West.

Our charity partnership

McCarthy Recruitment have decided that instead of spending money on Christmas cards and presents to our clients to donate the same amount of money to buying items for the 1,000 hampers that Urban Outreach will be distributing. Our team are providing help in the lead up to Christmas to pack the hampers and get them ready for the grateful families that will receive them.

The McCarthy team started supporting Urban Outreach in 2013 when we found out about the great work they do. As ex-retailers we have all worked and seen the masses of presents and food that is bought at Christmas and increasingly aware of the pressures that people are under to provide their families with a magical time.  When we became aware that there are families nearby whom for whatever reason can’t afford this and are unable to provide themselves and their children with a basic Christmas dinner made us stop and think about how we could help and provide some support for them.

Urban Outreach (Bolton) is a registered Christian Charity, established in 1990 to work with disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals in the town of Bolton, Greater Manchester.  This Christmas Urban Outreach aim to bring Christmas cheer to 1,000 of the towns most deprived households. The Charity thinks that the hampers, each worth around £45 will benefit about 4,000 people altogether.

The hampers will be handed out to community groups to distribute to struggling individuals and families on December 23rd from the Allied Carpets unit on the Trinity Retail Park. Community groups such as churches will pick up the hampers from Urban Outreach to give to homes they feel will get the most benefit from it.

Each hamper will contain a chicken, potatoes, vegetables, a Christmas pudding, a selection box and other assorted goodies they need to have a much wanted traditional Christmas!

2012 was a really exciting year for our teams partnership with a local children’s charity called JUMP. The whole company team have been involved with the charity and more than partnering it we have created a whole programme of opportunity for everyone to make a difference.

We have worked with them offering a number of services including a full re-brand of their logo and corporate image, training & mentoring services along with ad hoc business advice. We have created a new corporate brochure and funding revenues to assist them with their growth plans.

They use our premises for all of their meetings and we hosted a Christmas memory day in conjunction with one of our retail clients for 8 children with life threatening health conditions at our office in December.

In October 2012 we organised and hosted the inaugural Jacobs Moonlight Ball at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester to raise funds for the charity and spread the word of the amazing service that JUMP provides.  The event was attended by Sir Alex Ferguson, headline sponsored by the Professional Footballers Association and had a host of famous faces including local stars from Hollyoaks. The night raised over £30,000 in funds for the charity which will enable them to widen their service in 2013 and support more families throughout the North West.

We have some exciting plans for the future to further support the JUMP team in developing the charity and have our annual planning event in the diary so we can scope out our plans.
