Grosvenor House Hotel played host to over 1,000 recruitment professionals this week, as Recruiter magazine held it's annual National Awards for Excellence 2008, supported by Thomas International.
Dara O' Briain, the Irish comedian and presenter of Mock the Week, gave the awards a comic's touch with a rapturously met opening speech and award introductions.
The panel of judges included Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society; Steven Kirkpatrick, managing director of Adecco Staffing UK and Ireland; Anthony Reeves, co-chairman of the Kellan Group and Nabila Sadiq, managing director of the Joslin Rowe temporaries.
Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society said what separated the winners from the rest was two things. "It comes down to two words: excellence and innovation."
McCarthy Recruitment received two awards given out during a night of celebration at the Grosvenor House Hotel. Scooping awards for The Best Retail Recruitment Firm and Best Newcomer to the Industry, Kate McCarthy told Recruiter Magazine "Being selected as a finalist for us was a great achievement but to win not one but two awards is absolutely fantastic and a total shock. To be acknowledged for our hard work and dedication to our candidates and clients is for us the best accolade we could have; we have been on an incredible journey of growth and these awards have been earned by each member of my team.

I would like to thank the judges for recognising our difference and innovation and for all those people that have supported me whilst creating McCarthy Recruitment."
The double win has come as the company has embarked upon its own recruitment drive fuelled by its growing number of retails clients. "The slowdown in the economy has not reduced the need for great management. In fact it has highlighted the need to take on the right people to cope with more challenging times," comments Kate. "As our award suggests, we feel we are the right company to help retailers find the right management teams to move them forward."
