Stock Manager - Northern Ireland

STOCK MANAGER

Argos is a unique retailer recognised for choice, value and convenience. It sells general merchandise and products for the home from c700 (and still growing) stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. In the last financial year, this retailer's sales topped £3.8 billion. This year their goal is to become the number one choice retailer for general merchandise, and be a company that's famous for its fun atmosphere and superior customer care.

Argos is part of the Home Retail Group, one of the UK's pre-eminent retail groups. They serve over 130 million customers a year through its stores and takes four million customer orders either online or over the phone. On average, 17 million UK households, or around two thirds of the population, have Argos catalogue's at home at any time. Its internet site is the second most visited internet retail site in the UK.

Very much the public face of their business, there is an Argos store within 10 miles of 95% of the UK population. A fact they are extremely proud of, as it underlines their success of their customer-focused approach to retailing.

They've always been dedicated to providing their customers with the best range of goods at the most competitive prices. Not to mention the most convenient shopping experience. This has meant they have continually evolved to improve and widen the range of services they offer. From front of store concepts, like their quick-pay kiosks, to technological innovations, such as their 'click & collect' and 'text & take home' facilities that allow customers to easily reserve goods online or by mobile, they have never been ones to rest on their laurels.

But whatever they do, they realise that they can only be as good as their people. They're the real secret to Argos's success. The ones who deliver the outstanding customer service that makes Argos more than just another shop, and keep the customers coming back for more, time and time again.

THE ROLE

A successful stock manager is the key to overall store achievement; it is a critical role that has numerous responsibilities that are at the core of the store operation. The stock room unlike most retail stores is the hub of the business and flips a standard retailer operation on its head - in Argos it is the stock room operation that directly impacts the customer service experience. This is achieved through developing a multi-skilled team that's capable of achieving exceptional put away and delivery times. That means reviewing standards and taking initiative to address stock loss and adjustment levels. Secondly, at the collection point you'll drive high levels of profitable sales by exploiting opportunities as they arise. Plus of course you'll constantly monitor and challenge best practice methods to improve business efficiency.

When you are deputising for the Store Manager, you'll be overseeing both the stock and customer service teams. That's where your flexible management style will come into its own. Ideally you will be process driven, committed to engaging your people, passionate about service and have a great attitude to delivering the best all the time, every time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing the stock ordering, receiving, SAP and administrative functions in order to meet stock holding and availability targets

Deputise for the store manager

Ensure high levels of customer service

Maintain the highest levels of profitable sales

Manage the overall stock replenishment process

Proactively manage out of stock processes and fully investigate all out of stocks to satisfactory conclusion

Action all stock moves in an accurate and timely manner

Release stock deliveries within agreed timescale to support the retail operation

Management and development of the store team to deliver exceptional standards

Team management, motivation and development

Actively manage the Customer Experience by undertaking overall Duty management responsibility in the Store Managers absence

Effectively utilise and implement Fast, Friendly and Efficient initiatives within areas of responsibility

Review standards in the stockroom taking action as required to comply with all appropriate areas of stock loss initiatives and store operating standards

Manage the team through effective use of the performance management cycle (set objectives, ongoing coaching, monitoring and reviewing performance, and support individuals in producing Personal Development Action Plans)

IDEAL CANDIDATE

An influential leader who brings demonstrable success in both stock and people management

You're adept at prioritising and organising workloads making effective plans when faced with tight deadlines

You're the sort of person who can solve problems on the run with logical thinking

Your hands on approach is an inspiration to those around you

Commercial acumen and exceptional housekeeping standards are essential

Enjoys meeting targets and takes pride in maintaining the corporate image of the company

Self-developer who can recruit, develop and retain staff

Possess a real passion for customer service

THE ROLE

The role of a customer service manager is all about developing a culture within the store that ensures the customer is at the heart of everything they do. Equally important is the management of your team to ensure they are as passionate about the customer journey as you are, acting on customer feedback and improving communication between departments is key to this as is training and developing the store teams. In this role you will have a key opportunity to turn any negative situations into positives and ensure customers leave the store wanting to come back and shop with us again. Your remit also includes ensuring a safe environment and providing cover to the management team when required. It's a great opportunity to run the shop floor and your main focus will be to bring all the elements together that ensure a great running store with the team in perfect harmony. Combine this with the everyday challenges you'll face and we're pretty confident that you'll never find boredom an option.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the ownership and management of the sales floor to ensure great and consistent customer experience

The effective management of customer advisors; including recruitment, performance management, learning and development

Responsible for the deployment of customer facing colleagues through the effective use of staff planner scheduling in line with agreed budgets

Responsible for driving a sales culture within the store

Ensuring a safe environment and providing cover to the management team

Professionally handling customer complaints to a positive outcome

Discuss individuals training needs with team members and, working with the management team, implement training plans to develop a fully skilled and flexible team

Review customer feedback and suggest improvements to processes and service levels

Provide support to the team when faced with challenging customers and respond to requests/complaints

Promote convenience services to customers e.g. Kiosks, Stock Checkers and Check and Reserve and encourage usage

Maintain and constantly review the Call Forward system

Effectively manage the kiosk operation in store

Take action on store processes where the customer journey is affected

IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will be extremely customer focused

Customer Service Manager - Aberdeen

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER

Argos is a unique retailer recognised for choice, value and convenience. It sells general merchandise and products for the home from over 670 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Retail Store Manager - Peckham

RETAIL STORE MANAGER

THE ROLE

You'll be responsible for helping drive forward a real revolution in forecourt retail and lead a team of between 15 and 35 Customer Service Assistants. The standards you set for customer service levels will be impressive. As will the slick way you run operations. From recruiting the best people, to keeping stock at just the right levels, and driving wastage down to a minimum, you'll push up sales and increase profits. (Not least by planning and implementing a successful store sales plan that incorporates all BP initiatives.) What's more, you'll continually look to drive up standards, by being a great coach - and using invaluable management information. You'll also be expected to manage Health and Safety and Employee Relations issues on site.

In short the budget and profit of the store - and the happiness of your staff and customers - will all be in your hands. You've already proved, through your experience in a retail management role, that you're a diplomat, salesperson, motivator, logistics whiz and entrepreneur all rolled into one. Now be part of an exciting new venture that will permanently change the nature of forecourt retail.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Experience of Retail Management, in food retail, would be an advantage, although any retail management background will be considered. Ideally you will naturally demonstrate a lively and energetic personality and a passion for working in a fast paced retail environment.

Genuine desire to achieve results through the management of others

Drive and ability to manage others effectively

Have a genuine passion for setting and achieving exceptional retail store standards

Problem solving and decision making

Effective planning and time management

Passionate about driving sales

Understand own key performance indictors and how to drive the commerciality of a retail store

Strong communication skills

Strong people management and coaching skills

Ideally you will have previously had key holder experience although this is not essential.

Minimum requirements for this role are:

to be 18 or over

legally entitled to work and be resident of the UK

have a full, clean driving license

to have no unspent criminal convictions

WORKING FOR BP

BP is a major global player. Every day, they serve around 13 million customers in more than 100 countries across six continents. BP see their retail brand as a vital part of our future growth and success. Their forecourt business is already going from strength to strength as they've bought in a succession of innovations. For example, the Wild Bean Cafés, where customers can pick up everything from a freshly ground coffee, tempting sweet treats and mouth watering savouries, are becoming increasingly popular.

Combine this with their Ultimate Fuels, and BP's multi-branded impulse offer and you'll see the secret of BP's success. In 2006, they won both the National Convenience Chain of the Year, and Forecourt Retailer of the Year in the Retail Industry awards. Just as importantly, in the CTP awards - voted for by the shoppers themselves - BP pulled in a whole host of accolades.

BP AND M&S

BP Retail are always trying to innovate - to bring better and better products to people on the move. And there can be few brands that offer more delicious - even sumptuous - food than Marks & Spencer. M&S Simply Food is the ideal fit for people on the go, bringing customers food of the very highest quality, and transforming the forecourt retail experience.

Marks and Spencer is one of the UK's leading retailers of clothing, food, home products and financial services. They employ 68,000 employees in 30 countries, have more than 500 stores and serve tens of millions of customers each and every week. Their aim is to take their food out to more locations making it easily accessible for their customers.

TRAINING AND BENEFITS

Only the best will do for M&S and BP customers. So your training will be second to none. Of course, BP are equally passionate about giving their people the best rewards - hence the extensive benefits package you will receive. It's a very exciting new venture with M&S and as such, BP are determined to make it a big success. They we'll be giving you the very best training, to ensure you've got all the tools you need to be a great member of the management team in one of their new stores.

When you start, you will be placed in a training store for 12 weeks - which means you'll have the benefit of an experienced manager on hand whilst you get to grips with new systems and find your feet. BP also provides you with cutting edge, interactive E-Learning, which hosts a suit of courses that will provide you with the legal know-how to do your job. Finally, every month BP give you a review, to check your progress, which will be supported by one to one coaching from a Field Trainer.

Of course, as you continue to work, there'll be plenty more development opportunities in the pipeline. As you'd expect from a company of BP's size and reputation, they take care of their people with great benefits. You'll have the chance to earn a bonus every quarter, which will be based on the performance of your site. They will give you 23 days' holiday a year (increasing to 25 days after 4 years). What's more, you can join their pension scheme the moment you start work. When you contribute 2% of your salary, BP will contribute between 5% and 8% depending on how long you've been in the scheme.

BP will also give you great financial services, insurance and lifestyle benefits. From discounts on home, motor and travel insurance to employee health insurance from as little as £13.75, you can be covered for less. Then there are all the lifestyle perks. Like low cost membership of Fitness First Health clubs, UK hotel breaks with up to 70% off, and a 20% discount on tailoring services. Not to mention discounts on toys, flowers, wine, pictures and car hire.

It all adds up to one of the best benefits packages around!

Retail Store Manager - Newmarket
