Lidl isn’t just your ordinary run-of-the-mill supermarket. The Retailers ‘do-it different, keep-it-simple, make-it-better’ approach has helped the business become an international retail phenomenon.

Since being established in the 1930’s and opening their first UK store in the early 90’s, Lidl have never looked back.

In 2016 Lidl won the prestigious Good Housekeeping “Supermarket of the Year” Award; this was voted for by readers of the magazine, with Waitrose consistently walking away with the award in previous years.

In 2015, Lidl was also crowned Grocer of the Year Grocer Gold awards for their commitment in providing top quality products at the lowest possible prices across the length and breadth of the country.

 

In recent years Lidl’s quarterly wine collection has been embraced by the British public, enabling households up and down the country to buy premium wines (such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape) at prices that represent real value for money.

 

Regular world food themes give customers a chance to tantalize their taste buds with a range of produce from all over the world including locally farmed products heralding from Cornwall as well as other goods originating from France, Italy and Poland.  And whilst Lidl’s roots may be in Germany, the UK arm of the business is passionate about working with British producers, resulting in over 60% of its products being directly sourced from the UK.

Currently, Lidl are experiencing exciting times with continued growth year on year and plans to open 40 – 50 additional stores each foreseeable year going forward.

 

Our Stores

Lidl have expanded rapidly and now have over 640 stores throughout the UK. Internationally, Lidl have over 10,000 stores as well as over 135 warehouses that ship some 1,600 products to almost every country in Europe.

In November 2015, Lidl launched a new innovative store concept which involved undertaking a complete overhaul of their existing stores to make way for a new cutting edge fromat including a state-of-the-art glass fronted design. Customers and employees are at the heart of the new concept, which boasts a custom designed architectural structure along with a more spacious layout which serves to offer customers  an enhanced shopping experience.

Whether you are a cleaner, a customer assistant or part of the store management team, Lidl’s ‘get-stuck-in’ attitude means that you will get involved in working across all areas of the store, from the warehouse to the tills.
